Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 recorded a sales rebound in October, with US deliveries rising 21% year over year to 1,981 units. The increase brought sales for the first 10 months of 2026 to 33,093, although that total is still 23% lower than the more than 42,700 sold over the same period last year.
The IONIQ 5 ranked third in the US electric vehicle market through the third quarter, behind the Tesla Model Y and Model 3, which together accounted for about half of sales. The market has slowed since the $7,500 federal tax credit was removed last September. Hyundai responded by reducing prices on some 2026 IONIQ 5 trims by nearly $10,000, bringing the starting MSRP to around $35,000.
Hyundai said the IONIQ 5 contributed to its strongest October ever in the US. The company sold 73,452 vehicles during the month, up 5% year over year. Hybrid sales also set an October record, increasing 20% and making up 29% of Hyundai’s total monthly sales. Overall, the automaker’s US sales reached 770,916 through October, up 3% from a year earlier.
The IONIQ 9, Hyundai’s other electric SUV mentioned in the report, sold 169 units in October, down 47% year over year. Its sales for the year through October were up 49%, at nearly 6,700 vehicles.
Hyundai’s 2027 IONIQ 5 SE Standard Range starts at $35,250 and offers up to 245 miles of range. The extended-range SE RWD costs an additional $2,500 and is rated for up to 318 miles on a charge.
