Chevrolet has displayed its new 2027 Silverado 9C1 police pursuit vehicle at the GM Fleet booth in the Orange County Convention Center. Unlike the Silverado EV, the police model is powered by a gasoline engine.
The half-ton pickup uses a 5.7-liter small-block Chevy V8 producing 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to both axles through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
An available 2-inch lift kit retains the truck’s pursuit rating. The Silverado 9C1 can also tow up to 9,300 pounds and is offered with a driver’s-side LED spotlight.
The truck’s cabin is dominated by a 16-inch touchscreen, listed as standard equipment across Chevrolet’s civilian lineup. However, it is not clear how the screen would integrate with police department software; enforcement-related computing may remain the responsibility of vehicle upfitters.
The gasoline powertrain contrasts with the Silverado EV, which offers more than 750 horsepower in its WOW mode and 775 lb-ft of torque from zero rpm. The electric model is rated by the EPA for up to 478 miles, while the gasoline version is cited at 16 mpg combined.
Photos of the 2027 Silverado 9C1 were taken by Dorian Jzak and posted on the Emergency Vehicles Photography Facebook page.
